The Whitehall Garden Club in conjunction with the Madison-Jefferson Co. Extension Office extends an invitation to an informative program about “The Importance of Good Soil”. The “soil” program will be open to the public on May 9, 2019 in the Borden’s Conference Room, 103 West Legion Street, Whitehall, MT.  The first session will be for the home gardeners from 7:00-7:45PM.  From 8-8:45PM the program will focus on the important properties of soil for all ranchers and farmers.  You may come for one session and/or stay for both.  Hope to see you there!

Gardener Presentation

Title: Seven Steps to Productive Soils.  Nate Matteson, Soil Conservationist in the Whitehall NRCS office will take you through the seven steps to productive soils in your garden, while introducing tools and resources that will help answer questions throughout the growing season.

Producer Presentation

Title: Cover Crops for Grazing and Forage Quality.  Kate Vogel, Seed Advisor with North 40 Ag, will discuss specific cover crop species while sharing forage data from around the state.  She will review cover crop goals and teach attendees how to create a desirable grazing mix.
