2026 Axolotl Lakes Tour
Our 2026 Field Tour consisted of a 2.2-mile interpretive hike around Axolotl Lakes. Featuring special guest speakers from the Bureau of Land Management, Montana Land Reliance, and Fish, Wildlife, and Parks! The tour was led by Tim Beatrice and Sam Rance with BLM, who discussed the history of the area and shared conservation efforts. Matt Bell with MLR went in depth on the tiger salamanders, more commonly called Axolotls in the area, and Kirsten Terkildsen with FWP spoke on hair snares, sharing real fur examples and how we can learn more about wildlife from these samples.
