Family Fun Night Teaches the Importance of Groundwater
The Madison Watershed Partnership hosted an event for National Groundwater Awareness Week that taught young kids and adults about the role that groundwater plays in our everyday lives. The event started off with everyone making their own “edible aquifers” from yogurt and an assortment of toppings that represented the different layers of underground material that make up an aquifer. Then, adults watched a video about well and septic care, while the kids got to see the impacts of surface contamination on groundwater by using a groundwater flow model.
